Account and security: profile, password, and sign-in
Update your profile name, change or recover a password, understand sign-in options, and find account and email-verification controls.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”Open the avatar menu and choose Personal Info to view your profile. The current form lets you edit your first and last name and, for accounts with a password, change that password. It displays your email address but does not provide a working email-change flow. Password sign-in, Google sign-in, and GitHub sign-in are available on the sign-in page, depending on availability for your account.
Use a password you do not reuse elsewhere, and do not send it or a recovery token to anyone. Email verification is separate from signing in; Build publishing requires a verified email address.
When to use this
Section titled “When to use this”Use Personal Info to correct your name or update an existing password. Use Forgot? on the login form when you need to request password-recovery instructions. If you normally use Google and the profile says no password is set, use the same sign-in provider rather than trying a password you never created. For data access or account deletion, see Privacy and data.
- To edit your name, open the avatar menu → Personal Info → Edit beside Full Name. Update the name fields and choose Save.
- To change an existing password, choose Change Password. Enter your Current Password, then a New Password and confirmation. The form requires at least eight characters and checks that the two new entries match; select Update Password.
- If you cannot sign in with a password, open Log In, choose Forgot?, enter your account email, and select Send recovery link. The confirmation is deliberately generic: it does not reveal whether an email is registered.
- Check the account’s inbox and junk folder. A recovery token expires after 15 minutes. At the moment the app has no page where you can enter that token yourself; do not share it with anyone. If the email does not lead to a usable reset flow, use an available sign-in method and contact the service through its current support channel.
- For publishing, use the verification message sent to your account or request another from the publish flow when offered. Verification links expire; request a fresh one if the link is invalid or expired.
Worked example
Section titled “Worked example”You signed up with Google and now want to use a password. Personal Info may say that the account signs in with Google and has no password. The current profile form does not show a password-change action for that account. Use the Google button to sign in; do not treat the Forgot? form as proof that a password already exists.
What happens next
Section titled “What happens next”Name changes appear in your profile after saving. A password change requires the current password and a matching new-password confirmation. The email address remains displayed as account information; the profile screen does not currently let you change it. The screen also does not offer a control to link or unlink Google or GitHub identities. Keep using the sign-in method attached to your account and review the privacy policy for account-data requests.
Cost and limitations
Section titled “Cost and limitations”Profile edits and password recovery do not select a subscription or model. Email recovery depends on the account’s mail delivery and the time-limited token. Google-only accounts may have no password to change. The interface does not provide a self-service account-deletion or complete data-export control; data-rights requests are described in the Privacy and data guide and the privacy policy. Do not assume that changing a password revokes every existing session.
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”- The name did not save: check the displayed error, retry, and confirm the connection is available.
- There is no password field: the account may be Google-only. Use the corresponding sign-in button.
- The recovery confirmation appears but no email arrives: check the exact address and spam folder. The generic message is shown even when the address is not registered.
- The reset token is expired: request recovery instructions again. The web app currently has no form to submit the token; do not paste it into a chat or send it to an unverified contact.
- Publishing says email verification is required: request a fresh verification email from the publishing flow and open its verification link.
- You need to change your email or linked sign-in provider: those controls are not available in the current Personal Info form.
