Skills
Skills: share links and publish in the gallery
Share a readable skill link, publish through gallery review, understand independent copies, and revoke links or remove a publication.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”Open avatar → Skills → My skills and open a saved skill of your own. The editor shows Share for saved personal entries, not an unsaved draft or the read-only library. Use Duplicate and edit first if you need your own version of a library skill. Save your intended changes before sharing or submitting: these actions operate on the saved skill, not the unsaved text currently in the editor.
Inspect the instructions and every resource for secrets, confidential material and content you have no right to redistribute. A share link is not an authenticated private collaboration space. Anyone with that link can read and download the skill without signing in; account access is required to add a copy. Gallery publication makes approved instructions publicly discoverable.
When to use this
Section titled “When to use this”Use Share by link to pass a skill to someone without listing it in the gallery. Use Publish in the gallery when you want others to discover it through the public Skills gallery. Both give readers instructions they can copy, not edit access to your original. Choose neither if the content should remain only in your account.
- Save and review your original. Open the personal skill, check SKILL.md, use Preview, and inspect any Files. Save the version you intend to share. An unsaved new skill has no sharing controls.
- Create a readable link. Under Share, choose Share by link, then Copy link. The app produces a
/skills/s/…address. Send it only to people you intend to let read it, remembering that they can forward it. There is no recipient list, reader password, invitation acceptance or reader-login requirement. Not being listed in the gallery does not make the content confidential. - Explain what the reader gets. The link page displays Shared skill, instructions and any resource-file list. Readers can choose Download or Use in Neurothread. After signing in if necessary, Add to my skills creates an editable personal copy that starts as Only when I pick it. Using that add action on your own shared skill returns your existing original instead of creating another copy. Library previews offer Open in Explore rather than installing another library entry.
- Submit a public publication. If the gallery is enabled, choose Publish in the gallery and confirm. The status becomes Waiting for review. Submission is not immediate publication: community pages and gallery listings are available only while approved. Sharing by link is a separate action and does not require gallery approval.
- Check the review result. Reopen the skill to see its current status. Public in the gallery means readers can discover it under Community, read it and download or add it. View its page opens the approved publication. Not accepted or Hidden after reports may include a review note. Review timing and approval are not guaranteed.
- Edit or resubmit deliberately. Changes to an approved skill’s name, description or instruction body automatically move it back to Waiting for review on Save; the previous approved page is not kept publicly available while the new version waits. Saving an unchanged text, or changing only the Auto model preference, does not itself trigger that transition. Pending edits remain pending. After rejection or hiding, editing alone does not resubmit: save your corrections, then choose Publish in the gallery again. It returns to review, not directly to public status.
- Revoke each route separately. Stop sharing invalidates the current share-link token. Sharing again creates a new link; the old one stays invalid. Remove from the gallery withdraws the public page/listing or pending submission without disabling a live share link. Conversely, Stop sharing does not remove an approved gallery publication. Use both actions if you want neither route to remain readable.
- Report or delete when needed. On a community gallery detail page, choose Report, explain the problem and submit Report. This control is not shown on library entries or token-only share pages. To delete your own skill, return to its card in My skills, choose Delete and confirm. Deletion removes the original and its link/public-page access, but not copies or downloads other people already have.
Worked example
Section titled “Worked example”You have a personal weekly-report skill tested with fictional data. Save the final instructions and check that its supporting checklist contains no real client details. Choose Share by link → Copy link and send it to a colleague. They read it and Add to my skills, then make their own edits; your original does not change.
Later, submit yours with Publish in the gallery. While it waits for review, the colleague can still open your share link. Once approved, changing the report structure and saving sends the publication back to review, but the share link continues to expose the newly saved text. To withdraw both routes, use Remove from the gallery and Stop sharing. Your colleague’s copy remains theirs.
What happens next
Section titled “What happens next”A reader’s copy is independent: it is not a subscription to your edits. Copies added from shared/community pages include supporting resources. If copying those files fails, adding the skill fails; it does not save an instructions-only copy. If a personal name already exists, the new copy receives an available name such as weekly-report-2. This differs from Duplicate and edit of a library entry, which keeps its name, replaces the library entry for that user and does not copy resource files.
Share links point to the original’s current saved content, not a frozen version. Unsharing, unpublishing, rejection and hiding do not remove another user’s existing copy or downloaded files. Gallery moderation and share tokens are independent; a hidden gallery skill can still be readable through an active share link. If both routes were active, removing just one is not full withdrawal.
Keep relevant attribution and copyright notices when adapting someone else’s instructions or resources, and check any stated license or permissions before redistributing. Publication does not automatically assign an open-source license or transfer ownership. Extra YAML metadata is preserved on export, but fields such as license and allowed-tools are not an enforced licensing or permission system. If permission is unclear, do not publish material you cannot lawfully share.
Cost and limitations
Section titled “Cost and limitations”Sharing, downloading and submitting a skill do not generate a normal model answer. An added personal copy counts toward the recipient’s displayed My skills allowance. Its later use adds instruction/resource text to model input and follows normal answer billing; running agent tools or a computer may add costs. No exact plan allowance or price is fixed by this guide.
Sharing and publication depend on feature availability. Saving a personal skill does not publish it, and enabling a link does not put it in the gallery. Review may reject or hide a publication. Reports are rate-limited and deduplicated per skill using a hash of the request’s source IP, not a verified reader identity. Enough counted reports can hide a community publication pending review, but reporting is not a guaranteed immediate removal or a copyright adjudication. Approval is not a safety endorsement. Resources still need working storage to download or copy successfully.
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”- Share is absent: save a personal skill first. A library entry is read-only; duplicate it if you need your own version. Unsaved drafts cannot be shared.
- The recipient sees an older text: save your edits before copying or sending the link. A share action does not save the editor buffer.
- A reader cannot add a copy: they must sign in with skill access and have room in their personal allowance. Resources may also fail to copy if storage is unavailable. Reading a live share link does not require authentication.
- Publishing did not make a page public: Waiting for review is expected. Reopen the editor to refresh its status. The publication control may be absent when gallery access is disabled.
- The public page disappeared after editing: changes to approved instructions/metadata return it to review; the old version is not left on the public page. Your active share link is a separate route.
- A corrected rejected/hidden skill stayed out of the gallery: after saving, submit again with Publish in the gallery. Editing alone does not resubmit those states.
- Stop sharing left it public: also use Remove from the gallery. If removing the gallery listing left the link readable, use Stop sharing too.
- An old link no longer works: it may have been revoked or the original deleted. Ask the owner for the current link. A withdrawn, unapproved or hidden community page may likewise be unavailable.
- A copy did not receive your changes or disappear after deletion: copies and downloads are independent. Ask the recipient to review a new version; there is no automatic recall or synchronization.
- Report is missing: it appears on a community gallery page, not a library entry or token-only share page. A submitted report goes to review; it does not let you edit or delete someone else’s skill.
